Today’s song of the day comes to you straight from indie pop artist Dev’s as of yet untitled debut album. “Bass Down Low” features frequent collaborators The Cataracs - the duo is probably best known for linking up on one of the biggest dance anthems of 2010 in their smash hit “Like A G6”. The chemistry between these two artists is near-perfect, and every collaboration of theirs results in a sonically superior successor - and this song is no exception. The track features a booming bassline, as you might expect, with some powerful synths backing it. Expect this one to be all over the radio whenever it sees an official release - Dev and company are poised to make some big moves in 2011. Until then…enjoy!
In light of the Christmas holiday, I felt compelled to post one of my favorite tracks that I’ve been listening to lately. This is one of that songs that has a sort of “feel” to it…in this case, it feels like winter…if that makes any sort of sense at all. Anyways, I highly recommend you give this song (titled “City Lights”) a listen. I can almost guarantee that for better or for worse, this song is poised to become the next “Airplanes” pop / hip-hop crossover hit; I’m pretty sure just one listen will convince you of that. Not to mention, Nikki & Rich bring Fabolous onboard for a scene-stealing guest verse that is truly inspirational. Not a bad way to end this Christmas Day, in my opinion. Enjoy, and Merry Christmas!
It looks like 8 months in a federal prison hasn’t changed Lil Wayne much. Eleven days after being released from Riker’s Island Correctional Facility, Dwayne Carter (formerly know as Inmate #02616544L) has laid down and recorded his first post-prison verses in the form of a remix to Birdman’s latest single, “Fire Flame”. Wayne sounds more focused and lucid than ever, dropping those signature metaphors and unforgettable lines all over this track. Factor in a thinly-veiled reference to the upcoming Tha Carter IV, and we’ve got a potential hit on our hands that not only heralds Wayne’s re-entrance into the music industry, but also heightens anticipation for the already long-awaited album. Happy Wednesday everyone, and enjoy!
Today’s track of the day comes to you hot off the presses from indie rapper Charles Hamilton, who unleashed this single in honor of his 23rd birthday, which was today. This upbeat track is typical of Hamilton, who’s made his reputation off of…well, quite frankly, genius sampling of tracks for his music that range all the way from Beethoven to Audioslave to Sade. This track is rumored to be appearing on Hamilton’s upcoming album (tentatively titled, “My Heart”), but only time will tell if this ends up being the case or not. Until then, enjoy!
