This is going to be my anthem for this weekend at least. With the Super Bowl matchup between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers finally coming to fruition this Sunday, rapper Lil Wayne decided to take Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” and flipped it into a fight song for his long-favored Green Bay Packers. The song is full of the usual quotables and is actually pretty entertaining…this is a good way to kick off Super Bowl Sunday! You already know who I’m rooting for. #gopackgo.

Hello all! Thank you to everyone who tuned in for our latest episode this past Thursday. Our usual cast joined us last week, and there was lots of interesting discussion and great music to be had. We had an outstanding start to the year, made even better by a photoshoot by photographer Adrian Gutierrez (thanks Adrian!). He took some great pictures during the show that you can check out above, if you want to see what we’re up to. Included in this week’s episode are topics such as:

  • Stephen Colbert running for President?
  • Student Government and Spring Semester Events!
  • Coachella 2011 lineup announced.
  • Concordia’s Pita-palooza (Middle Eastern Week)

In addition, we had a great lineup of music on tap. Here’s links to the songs you’ll be hearing in this week’s episode (in order):

Hope you enjoyed this week’s broadcast! As always, tune in right here at 9PM on Thursdays for our live show. If you have any song requests, by all means let us know through the link on the right side of this page. Enjoy!

Today’s track of the day is a unique hybrid of rap and rock, and we mean that in the best way possible. Travis Barker’s oft-delayed solo album is finally seeing the light of day in a month or two, and today brought around the release of the first official single off of the album. Featuring an all-star lineup of Lil Wayne, Game, Swizz Beatz, and Rick Ross, “Can The Drummer Get Some?” is a blaring, anthemic track filled with spectacular verses by all, as one might expect. Be looking for this one to be hitting radios everywhere sometime next month, even though this will have fully dissipated through the mass consciousness of the internet approximately 0.263984 seconds after this posting. Not a bad way to start off a weekend, right? Thought so. Enjoy!

This is a pretty interesting vignette from an audio production standpoint (though I wouldn’t claim to be an expert). In this clip, we get a brief behind-the-scenes view of producer Bangladesh creating the beat that would eventually provide the backbone for Lil Wayne’s “6’ 7”, the first official single off his widely anticipated upcoming album, Tha Carter IV. The award-winning producer can be seen crafting his signature drum pattern on an Akai MPC, while using ProTools and his dependable MacBook Pro to craft the soundscape. A very interesting (and short) watch, especially for those of you that are interested in seeing how the creative process comes into play during a song’s production.
